Why your degree is not sufficient
Last year 278 students registered at the faculty of Business Economics at Hasselt University. Even here, you are only 1 of the 278 other business economics students if you've started your studies last year and we haven't even mentioned the other universities in Belgium or students from different years.

How are you going to differentiate yourself if you graduate together with hundreds other students?
In a few years, you are expected to finish your degree in business economics. You'll be looking for a job and will probably be invited at a couple of job interviews. On most of these interviews you'll be asked the following question: "Why do we have to hire you?" And this is a very difficult and confronting question if you were not expecting it.
Good grades are definitely needed but companies are looking for a lot more these days.
Because, what makes u unique opposed to other students? Good grades are definitely needed, that's a first step, but companies are looking for a lot more these days. They want people with ambition! That's why you should, now more than ever, focus on your extracuricullars. And what is the best way to do this? You can by example attend events, work on projects and get in touch with companies through company visits and so much more.
Testimonial Niels Bex, past President JC and Business Consultant at CGI
"Junior Consulting has been an unbelievable added value to my career. First and foremost I didn't know really well which way I wanted to go after my studies. By getting in touch with a big number of companies through Junior Consulting, I was able to get a better idea of which sectors I'd like to pursue a career in. After having decided that consultancy was the way to go, the first step was getting in touch with companies that appealed to me. While doing this, the network of Junior Consulting was extremely useful, in two ways: first and foremost the connections I made with customers and partners of Junior Consulting got me 'a foot in the door' with these companies. The second useful aspect were the alumni of Junior Consulting, people that have a similar background, followed a similar path and are now working for top-tier companies. They were always ready to give advice on what the best way is to approach a company, what recommended companies are and what a typical career would look like. Once I made use of this network, the job interviews arrived."
"The experience I gained applying for a job at Junior Consulting, interviewing people myself at Junior Consulting and doing the sales pitch allowed me to go self-assured and confidently to such an interview. Other soft-skills you learn at Junior Consulting (professional communication, presenting, networking,...) helped me present and 'pitch' myself in a professional environment. After you've been hired, those soft-skills are still priceless. There are hardly any trainings that can prepare you the same way Junior Consulting can. In summary, Junior Consulting has been one of the best decisions in my life . I would not hesitate a moment to do it again."
